Generation YES Presenter's Club FAQs
Is everyone eligible for the Generation YES Presenter's Club?
We expect that most people will be current and former GenYES and Generation TECH teachers, TechYES advisors, or technology staff in districts with a Generation YES program. If this isn't you but you still want to be in the Presenter's Club, give us a call!
What types of sessions are eligible for the honorarium?
- National, state and regional K-12 educational conferences
- Professional development days in districts other than your own where educators from multiple schools are in attendance
- Student showcases at education conferences outside your district
- Higher education conferences related to educational technology
- Not eligible - presentations at your own school or district. Presentations at single-school events or single school in-services. Non-educator oriented presentations such as Toastmasters, events at a local computer store or civic meetings.
How much is the honorarium and how do I get it?
The honorarium is $100 and the rules for getting it are all in the Generation YES Presenter's Kit.
What if I taught GenYES several years ago?
GenYES (also known as Gen Y or Generation www.Y for you real veterans) has been around for over ten years. In response to feedback and research, many changes have been made to the model, online tools, and curriculum. We ask that if you are NOT using the current Curriculum Guide and tools, you familiarize yourself with the new improvements by reading the materials on the website and in this Presenter's Kit.
Am I just doing a sales job for you guys?
No, there is no requirement for any "sales pitch" in your presentation. In fact, we hope that your presentation is 100% about how empowering students to participate in the educational process improves technology use, and therefore learning, in your school. This is about the success of your learning community and the part that students can play in building a healthy, vibrant culture of learning in your school.
Can I use these materials to prepare for other presentations?
Yes, but we cannot give you an honorarium for that.
Can my session be about GenYES, TechYES, or Generation TECH?
Yes, your session can be about any Generation YES program at any grade level.
Do I have to have students present with me?
No, but we hope you do.
Are there any other rules?
- The limit is 3 paid presentations per year
- Only one presenter will be compensated for each presentation
- Only one honorarium for the same person at the same event
