GenYes Weekly Facilitator Message 04/18/19
Hi GenYES Facilitators,
This week we focus on the GenYES curriculum. Below is a table showing the number of times each of the 18 Curriculum Units and their Activities have been accessed so far this year. You will notice there are some activities that have been accessed only a few times. It is not too late in the year to check some of these out. Remember, not all your STLs have to do an Activity. You can assign any number of STLs to do an Activity and a related TAP.
For the first time this year, we had some issues with our web server. Our website was down on Wednesday for a few hours. The site was working by Wednesday afternoon. If you experience any difficulty accessing the GenYES website give our office a call.
TAP of the Week
Today's TAP of the Week comes from a 12th grader at Timberlane High School in New Hampshire.
Title: Internet Search Strategies (Unit 2)
TAP Description: I will visit a class and talk about Internet Search Strategies and their importance. I will explain different kinds of search engines, how to use advanced searching, and why using both is very important to do successful research.
TAP Accomplishments: I created a presentation and explained to the class the difference between a search engine and a browser. Then I went onto explain some popular browsers and search engines. I took the class through some specialized search engines for academic articles, math calculations, old/'expired' websites, etc. The students learned about how nothing is really ever gone from the internet and that there are so many more and helpful ways to search for things other than Google.
