GenYes Weekly Facilitator Message 03/25/19

Hi GenYES Facilitators,

Last week I had ten meetings in the Silicon Valley. I visited companies and GenYES schools. More companies are looking at GenYES as a strategy to utilize STL expertise to support their products and programs. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements. Here is a picture of me (in the blue coat) at Apple’s giant new circular “Park.”

Student Technology Leadership

This week I would like to emphasize the L in STL. To me, the leadership component is every bit as important as the technology component. Check out the “Leadership in the 21st Century” unit in the GenYES curriculum. The Unit’s two activities are worth having your STLs address.

Related to leadership is the recent 60 Minutes 5-minute video, which shows students in grades 4-12 who are suing the government over environmental issues. A good example of student leadership.

TAP of the Week

Today's TAP of the Week comes from an 8th grader at Treasure Mountain Junior High School in Utah.

Title: C-Pen

TAP Description: Learn all about the C-pen and create a brief slideshow tutorial on its features.

TAP Accomplishments: When Alex and I got the C-pen we started experimenting with the pen. First we checked out if the pen can read from the computer, books, etc. After we decided to find out how you can put text on screen and made a slideshow on it. After we added bullet points and key information Alex and I decided to put pictures and give the slideshow to Mr.T.

Forward...
