STEM Nonprofit GenYES adds CB Technologies’ Founder to Board of Directors

Kirkland, WA, November 3, 2017 -- Generation YES, the education nonprofit that empowers underserved students to become technology leaders, adds IT industry powerhouse Kelly Ireland to its Board of Directors. Kelly joins Founder and CEO Dennis Harper and fellow Board Members: Patrick Gill, Nick Lippert, Victoria Bawn, Denny Hurtado and Emily McCartan to help kids navigate careers in tech.

Kelly Ireland has been involved in the IT industry since 1976, when she taught herself computer programming. Kelly launched CB Technologies in 2001 from her spare bedroom. Now an award-winning IT Solutions Provider with a roster of Fortune 50 clients, CB Technologies offers innovative technology solutions and unparalleled client service while providing an optimal work-life balance for employees.

For the entirety of her career, Kelly has supported causes that level the playing field: she serves on the Board of Governors for Uplift Family Services at Hollygrove, an EMQ FamiliesFirst Agency, and is a vocal advocate for women and children in need.

Kelly believes in giving back and helping others find success. “The GenYES Student Technology Leaders program offers a unique experience for 4th-12th grade kids across the globe but more importantly in communities where economic opportunity and access to technology is limited.” says Kelly Ireland. “Preparing these kids for careers in IT helps us all tap into a talent pool that has been largely overlooked by companies throughout the tech industry.”

Dennis Harper, Founder and CEO of Generation YES stated, “Kelly has been a key advocate and partner to GenYES. We are thrilled to work with her to ensure that our students are not only prepared for the digital workplace, but also ready to earn and succeed in leadership roles.”

About Generation YES

Generation YES is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that prepares teams of Student Technology Leaders (STLs) in grades 4-12 to provide professional development and IT support to educators and IT staff. By providing this cost-effective support, these students are participating in real-world experiences that develop the lifelong learning and people skills necessary to succeed in college and careers. Technology skills (e.g. coding, graphic design, etc.) are necessary but not the only skills needed to ensure students are prepared for the 21st century workplace.
